FBI Seizes 150 Homemade Bombs from Virginia Man Who Used Biden's Photo for Target Practice
Jan 1, 2025, 12:41 PM
Federal agents have arrested 36-year-old Virginia man, Brad Spafford, after discovering more than 150 homemade explosive devices at his home, marking the largest seizure of such devices in the FBI's history. The explosives, including pipe bombs marked "lethal," were found during a raid on Spafford's 20-acre farm in Isle of Wight County in mid-December. Authorities allege that Spafford used photos of President Joe Biden for target practice and expressed support for political assassinations, saying they should be "brought back." Explosive materials were found stored throughout his home, including a jar of a highly explosive substance in his freezer next to frozen food, and devices in areas accessible to his two young children. Spafford had lost three fingers while working on a device and possessed a #NoLivesMatter patch. Defense attorneys argue that there is no evidence that Spafford planned any violence.
