Boeing to Lay Off 396 Workers in Washington State, Part of 17,000 Job Reduction
Dec 9, 2024, 04:07 PM
Boeing Co. has announced plans to lay off 396 workers in Washington State as part of its broader restructuring strategy. The layoffs, set to commence on February 21, 2025, were disclosed in a Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification (WARN) notice. This move is part of a larger initiative announced in October to reduce the company's workforce by 17,000 jobs, which also includes laying off over 100 employees in Florida. CEO Kelly Ortberg has described Boeing as being 'at a crossroads,' citing eroded trust, high debt, and the need for strategic adjustments to stabilize the company's financial situation. Additionally, Boeing has laid off hundreds more SPEEA employees.
