Key evidence included an unspent bullet found between the girls' bodies, which was linked to Allen's Sig Sauer handgun, and a video recorded by Libby showing a man, believed to be Allen, directing the girls to go 'down the hill.' Allen, who worked at a local CVS, had confessed to the killings multiple times while in prison, though his defense argued these confessions were unreliable due to his mental health condition exacerbated by solitary confinement.
