Search Underway After US Navy EA-18G Growler Crashes Near Mount Rainier; Two Missing

A U.S. Navy EA-18G Growler aircraft, one of the Navy's premier electronic warfare jets, crashed east of Mount Rainier in Washington state during a routine training flight on Tuesday afternoon. The crash was reported at 3:23 p.m., and the two crew members aboard are missing, with their status unknown as of 7 p.m. Multiple search and rescue attempts are underway, involving military aircraft and resources from Naval Air Station Whidbey Island. The airspace around the crash site has been closed. The aircraft was assigned to Electronic Attack Squadron 130 (VAQ-130) and took off from the station earlier that day. The cause of the crash is under investigation.
