TfL Confirms Data Breach of 5,000 Customers' Bank Details, 17-Year-Old Arrested
Sep 12, 2024, 02:07 PM
Transport for London (TfL) has confirmed that a cyber attack, which occurred at the beginning of September, has compromised the personal data of approximately 5,000 customers, including bank account details. The National Crime Agency (NCA) has arrested a 17-year-old male in Walsall earlier in September in connection with the incident under the Computer Misuse Act. Shashi Verma, TfL's Chief Technology Officer, emphasized the importance of system security and ongoing monitoring. The attack has led to significant disruptions, prompting TfL to take large portions of its IT infrastructure offline.
