Mozambique Wins $3.1 Billion 'Tuna Bond' Lawsuit Against Privinvest, Credit Suisse
Jul 29, 2024, 11:12 AM
Mozambique has substantially won its $3.1 billion (R57 billion) lawsuit at London's High Court against Emirati-Lebanese shipbuilder Privinvest. The case, known as the 'tuna bond' scandal, involved allegations of bribery and fraud related to a $2 billion bond that caused a financial crisis in the country. The judgment, handed down by Mr. Justice Knowles on Monday, found largely in favor of Mozambique, which was represented by the law firm Peters & Peters. The scandal also implicated Credit Suisse in the fraudulent activities.
