Six Found Dead at Grand Hyatt Erawan in Bangkok, Cyanide Poisoning Suspected
Jul 17, 2024, 02:05 AM
Six people were found dead in a luxury hotel room at the Grand Hyatt Erawan in Bangkok on Tuesday. The deceased, identified as four Vietnamese nationals and two Vietnamese-Americans, were discovered foaming at the mouth with traces of cyanide in their blood and on teacups found in the room. Initial reports suggested a shooting, but police later confirmed poisoning as the cause of death. The room was locked from the inside, and there were no signs of struggle. Thai police suspect that one of the deceased, a 56-year-old Vietnamese woman with US citizenship, poisoned the others due to a financial dispute. Thai Prime Minister Srettha Thavisin has ordered an urgent investigation into the incident, which has raised concerns about its impact on the nation's tourism industry. The US FBI has joined Thai authorities in the probe.
