Former NYC Education Official Sentenced to Lenient Two Years for Bribery and Tainted Chicken Scandal

Former New York City Department of Education CEO of School Support Services, Eric Goldstein, has been sentenced to a lenient two years in prison for corruption and bribery. Goldstein accepted nearly $100,000 in bribe payments from three business owners. U.S. Attorney Peace stated that Goldstein abused his high-ranking position, pursuing lucrative bribes at the expense of school children, many of whom rely on healthy meals provided by the Department of Education. The scandal involved serving tainted chicken to students. Goldstein initially faced more than six years behind bars.
