Major Train Accident Averted in Kanpur's Shivrajpur as Kalindi Express Collides with LPG Cylinder on Tracks
Sep 9, 2024, 06:44 AM
A major train accident was averted in Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh, when the Kalindi Express collided with an LPG cylinder placed on the tracks in the Shivrajpur area. The incident occurred late Sunday night as the train was heading towards Bhiwani from Prayagraj. The driver spotted the cylinder and applied emergency brakes, preventing a potential disaster. The Railway Protection Force (RPF) and Government Railway Police (GRP) are investigating the case, with an FIR lodged under the Explosive Act. Authorities suspect a deliberate attempt to derail the train, and the Anti-Terror Squad (ATS) is also involved in the investigation. ATS IG Neelambuja Chaudhary has inspected the scene. Additional explosive substances, including a petrol bomb, were found near the tracks. Ten to twelve people have been detained for questioning. Police have not ruled out a conspiracy angle.
