Google Launches $99 Google TV Streamer with Better Performance and Thread Support, Shipping September 24
Aug 6, 2024, 01:06 PM
Google has announced the launch of its new Google TV Streamer, a set-top box priced at $99, which is set to replace the existing Chromecast with Google TV. The Streamer is expected to offer enhanced performance, support for Thread and Matter technologies, and new AI features aimed at improving the user experience. It will also include a smart home panel, although this feature will not be available for older devices at launch. The Google TV Streamer is scheduled to ship on September 24, 2024, and will come with a remote that is compatible with older Chromecast models. This move comes as Google seeks to rejuvenate its Google Home ecosystem with Gemini-based updates and improved functionalities for Nest devices.
