Sony Group, in collaboration with Startale Labs, has announced the launch of Soneium, a new Ethereum layer-2 blockchain network. Soneium is built on the Optimism OP Stack technology and aims to accelerate Web3 innovation by connecting blockchain technology with everyday internet services. The project is being developed by Sony Block Solutions Labs and is set to launch in the coming weeks. Sony has partnered with Chainlink to provide cross-chain infrastructure, enhancing the network's interoperability and scalability. The initiative is part of Sony's broader strategy to integrate blockchain technology into its consumer products over the next two years. Initially, Soneium will run a testnet in cooperation with Astar Network and integrate Astar's zkEVM assets.
