At the 2024 ReliaQuest Bowl held at Raymond James Stadium in Tampa, Florida on December 31, the Michigan Wolverines took a commanding 16-0 lead over the Alabama Crimson Tide in the first quarter. Alabama, who entered the game as a 16.5-point favorite, struggled offensively, committing four turnovers in the first quarter, including two fumbles and an interception by quarterback Jalen Milroe, as well as a turnover on downs. The first fumble occurred when Milroe mishandled the snap after heavy rain began to pour over the stadium. Michigan capitalized on these turnovers, scoring a touchdown and three field goals, with kicker Dominic Zvada converting field goals from 45, 30, and 21 yards. By the end of the first quarter, Alabama had negative two total yards, while Michigan had 43 yards. Despite the weather, Michigan's defense dominated, forcing multiple turnovers and limiting Alabama's offense.
