FTX's Ryan Salame Begins 7.5-Year Sentence After Donating Millions to GOP
Oct 10, 2024, 03:36 PM
Ryan Salame, former co-CEO of FTX Digital Markets, is set to begin serving a seven-and-a-half-year prison sentence on October 11 at a U.S. federal correctional facility. Salame pleaded guilty to charges related to campaign finance violations and operating an unlicensed money transfer business, after donating millions to GOP politicians. He is the second executive associated with the collapsed cryptocurrency exchange FTX to face imprisonment. Salame had sought to delay his surrender date to December 7, but the request was opposed by federal prosecutors. Before reporting to prison, he reportedly remarked that he would treat his incarceration like "summer camp."
