Iran's Khamenei Advisor Larijani Pledges Support as Lebanon Studies Israel Ceasefire
Nov 15, 2024, 11:37 AM
Iran's senior official Ali Larijani, advisor to Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei and member of the Expediency Council, met with Lebanese leaders, including Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri and the Prime Minister, to discuss efforts towards a ceasefire between Israel and Hezbollah. Larijani pledged Iran's full support to Lebanon's government, army, and resistance in facing Israeli aggression, stating that "Hezbollah is a solid and rational movement, and we will support the resistance in all circumstances." He affirmed that Iran backs any decision taken by the Lebanese government and Hezbollah regarding the ceasefire negotiations. Lebanese Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri is studying a ceasefire agreement document received from the American Embassy. A senior Lebanese official indicated that Hezbollah is prepared to withdraw its forces from the Lebanese-Israeli border as part of a ceasefire but rejects Israel's demands for future freedom to act against the group. The United States is actively pushing both sides to agree to a truce.
