Mark Cuban Calls for FTC Chair Lina Khan's Removal, Citing Risk to U.S. Leadership in AI
Oct 10, 2024, 06:31 AM
FTC Chair Lina Khan faces calls for her ouster from big-name Democratic donors, including Mark Cuban. Cuban, a surrogate for Harris, stated "If it were me, I wouldn't" keep Khan as FTC Chair. He expressed concerns that Khan's approach to breaking up big tech companies risks America's ability to compete with China and Russia in artificial intelligence. While acknowledging Khan's efforts in combating misleading online ads and pharmacy benefit managers (PBMs), Cuban believes she has overstepped her bounds in mergers and acquisitions regulation. Despite the criticism, Khan has stated she sees "a lot more work left to do" at the FTC.
