Israeli Airstrikes in Khan Yunis Target Hamas Leader Mohammed Deif, 71 Killed, 289 Injured
Jul 13, 2024, 10:49 AM
Israeli airstrikes targeted Mohammed Deif, the head of Hamas's military wing, in the al-Mawasi area of southern Gaza on July 13. The strike, which took place near Khan Yunis, aimed to eliminate Deif, who is also known as one of the masterminds behind the October 7 attacks. Reports indicate a high probability that Deif was either eliminated or critically injured. The attack also targeted Rafa’a Salameh, the commander of Hamas’s Khan Yunis Brigade. The Gaza Health Ministry reported that the strike resulted in the deaths of at least 71 people, including 20 Palestinians, and injured 289 others, with at least 90 wounded. The area targeted was a densely populated humanitarian zone, leading to significant civilian casualties.
