North Korea's Kim Jong Un Announces Exponential Increase in Nuclear Arsenal, Reveals Uranium Enrichment Facility
Sep 13, 2024, 12:36 AM
North Korean leader Kim Jong Un has announced plans to exponentially increase the country's nuclear arsenal, emphasizing the need for a strong military to counter threats from the United States and its allies. According to state media KCNA, Kim Jong Un outlined a nuclear force construction policy aimed at boosting the number of nuclear weapons and preparing the country's nuclear capabilities for combat readiness. In a speech marking North Korea’s founding anniversary, Kim emphasized the need for combat readiness. Additionally, North Korea has publicly disclosed a uranium enrichment facility for the first time, showcasing images of centrifuges that produce fuel for nuclear bombs. Kim Jong Un visited this facility, calling for more centrifuges to increase the production of weapons-grade material. This move is seen as a response to what Kim describes as the 'reckless expansion' of a U.S.-led nuclear-based military bloc in the region. He also oversaw a test-fire for a new 600mm multiple rocket launcher.
