Israeli Airstrike in Beirut Kills Senior Hezbollah Commander Fuad Shukr in Retaliation for Golan Heights Attack
Jul 30, 2024, 06:22 PM
The Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) conducted a targeted airstrike in Beirut, Lebanon, on Tuesday, eliminating Fuad Shukr, a senior Hezbollah commander. Shukr, also known as Hajj Mohsin, served as a top military advisor to Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah and was involved in the group's precision missile project. The strike was in retaliation for a rocket attack on the Golan Heights last Saturday, which resulted in the deaths of 12 children and teenagers. Shukr was also wanted by the US for his role in the 1983 bombing of the US Marine Corps barracks in Beirut, which killed 241 US military personnel. The IDF confirmed that Shukr was responsible for the attack on Majdal Shams and other deadly attacks on Israel.
