Aug 23, 2024, 10:26 PM
Twenty medical students from the University of Maiduguri and the University of Jos, who were kidnapped in Benue State while on their way to a convention, have been released after nine days in captivity. The students were abducted by gunmen who demanded a N50 million ransom. Despite the parents' inability to raise the ransom, the students were eventually freed. Security operatives had been actively searching the forest for the students since their abduction. The police confirmed the release of the students on Saturday.
