Sculptor Jaydeep Apte Arrested in Thane After Shivaji Statue Collapse at Rajkot Fort
Sep 4, 2024, 05:38 PM
Jaydeep Apte, the sculptor behind the Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj statue that recently collapsed at Maharashtra's Rajkot Fort, has been arrested. The statue collapse occurred eight months after its unveiling. Nearly 10 days later, police in Maharashtra’s Sindhudurg district had issued a lookout notice and deployed more than seven teams to track down Apte. He was eventually arrested at his residence in Kalyan, Thane district. The incident has raised questions about the structural integrity of the statue, with structural engineer Chetan Patil also being mentioned in connection with the investigation.
