Jim Irsay Confirms in Letter to Fans: Colts Retain Coach Shane Steichen and GM Chris Ballard for 2025
Jan 6, 2025, 01:28 AM
Indianapolis Colts owner Jim Irsay announced Sunday night that head coach Shane Steichen and general manager Chris Ballard will remain with the team for the 2025 season. In a letter released to fans, Irsay expressed his belief in their ability to lead the team to the next level, stating, "I believe in Chris Ballard and Shane Steichen and our collective ability to make the improvements needed to take us to the next level in 2025." Steichen, who said, "I love being the head football coach here. Love everything about it, love this team," will be entering his third year as head coach. Ballard, whose job security has been called "incredible," has been the Colts' general manager since 2017, compiling a 61-69-1 record with no playoff appearances since 2020. Irsay, who typically leans toward continuity, is sticking with both Steichen and Ballard.
