FTC and DOJ Sue Adobe Over Hidden Fees and Subscription Practices
Jun 17, 2024, 05:01 PM
The U.S. government has filed a lawsuit against Adobe, accusing the software company of violating consumer protection laws. The lawsuit, initiated by the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) and the Department of Justice (DOJ), alleges that Adobe enrolled consumers in its most lucrative subscription plans without clearly disclosing important terms. Additionally, Adobe is accused of hiding fees and making it difficult for consumers to cancel their subscriptions. The FTC claims that Adobe's practices harm consumers by charging hidden fees and imposing numerous cancellation hurdles. The lawsuit specifically mentions Adobe's popular products, Photoshop and Acrobat. The complaint, filed on Monday, highlights that the hidden fees can reach hundreds of dollars. Adobe has stated that it will refute the FTC's claims in court, asserting that it is transparent with its terms and conditions and has a simple cancellation process.
