France is experiencing a record turnout in its snap national parliamentary elections. As of noon, voter participation reached 25.9%, significantly higher than the 18.4% recorded at the same time during the 2022 elections. This marks the highest turnout since 1981. The Ministry of Internal Affairs reported that turnout at 9 am local time was already at 25.9%. In Paris, the turnout at noon was 25.48%, compared to 12.26% in 2022. The first round of elections to the National Assembly is underway, which will determine whether Le Pen’s far-right Rassemblement National can secure their first majority.
