Sep 20, 2024, 07:55 PM
Johnson & Johnson has increased its settlement offer to more than $8.2 billion to resolve thousands of lawsuits alleging its baby powder caused cancer. This new offer is up from a previous $6.5 billion offer. The company announced that its subsidiary, Red River Talc LLC, has filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy for the third time in a Texas court to advance the settlement. A majority of baby powder users have agreed to back the settlement, with 83% of plaintiffs supporting the offer. The company aims to put years of litigation to rest with this deal.
