Lucara Discovers 2,492-Carat Diamond in Botswana
Aug 22, 2024, 11:50 AM
Lucara Diamond Corp., a Canadian mining company, has discovered a massive 2,492-carat diamond at its Karowe mine in Botswana. This uncut gem is one of the largest diamonds ever found and is considered the second-largest diamond ever excavated, following the 3,106-carat Cullinan Diamond discovered in South Africa in 1905. The discovery was made using the company's Mega Diamond Recovery X-ray technology. The diamond's size and quality make it a significant find in the mining industry, potentially worth tens of millions.
