Jun 13, 2024, 10:47 AM
A Greek-owned, Liberian-flagged bulk carrier named M/V Tutor was attacked in the Red Sea 66 nautical miles southwest of Hodeidah, Yemen, on June 12, 2024. The vessel was first struck by a Houthi unmanned surface vessel (USV), a small white craft, causing severe flooding and damage to the engine room. Subsequently, it was hit a second time by an unknown airborne projectile. The ship is taking on water and is not under the command of its crew. No injuries have been reported so far. The attacks are part of a series of Houthi assaults on commercial vessels in the region, which have significantly impacted maritime security and trade. The U.S. Central Command confirmed the attack and stated that they have destroyed several Houthi assets in response.
