Hurricane Milton Leaves 3.1 Million Without Power in Florida on Thursday

Florida Governor Ron DeSantis reported that Hurricane Milton, which moved off Florida's east coast on Thursday, dropped more than 18 inches of rain in the Tampa Bay area and left 3.1 million people without power. Despite the significant impact, DeSantis noted that the storm was not the worst-case scenario. The overall storm surge in Milton was less than that of Hurricane Helene. The hurricane caused extensive damage, including toppled trees and flooded roads.
