Elon Musk's Starlink to Comply with Brazil Supreme Court's Order to Block X
Sep 3, 2024, 07:55 PM
Elon Musk's satellite internet provider, Starlink, has reversed its stance and will comply with an order from Brazil's Supreme Court to block access to the social media platform X in the country. Initially, Starlink had refused to comply with the order, citing frozen local assets as the reason for its defiance. The Brazilian telecom regulator, Anatel, led by Carlos Baigorri, had warned of potential license revocation and equipment seizures if the company did not comply. Starlink, which serves over 250,000 customers in Brazil, announced that it would adhere to the court's directive to ensure the continuation of its satellite internet services in Brazil. The decision comes after major Brazilian internet providers had already begun blocking access to X following the court's order by Alexandre de Moraes.
