Florida Lawmakers Urge Biden to Approve Expedited Major Disaster Declaration for Hurricane Milton
Oct 11, 2024, 04:02 PM
In the aftermath of Hurricane Milton, Florida lawmakers are urging President Biden to approve Governor Ron DeSantis' request for an Expedited Major Disaster Declaration. Representatives Vern Buchanan and Kathy Castor are leading the efforts, with support from other members of the Florida delegation, including Darren Soto, Greg Steube, and Aaron Bean. This declaration would enable federal assistance to help the state recover from the catastrophic damages caused by the hurricane. U.S. Senator Marco Rubio and the U.S. Coast Guard are also involved in assessing the damage and coordinating relief efforts. As Chairman of Homeland GOP Maritime Security, Rep. Carlos is prioritizing the delivery of necessary assistance.
