South Korea Scrambles Jets as 11 Chinese, Russian Warplanes Enter Air Defense Zone Without Notice
Nov 29, 2024, 06:43 AM
South Korea scrambled fighter jets on Friday after 11 Chinese and Russian military aircraft entered its air defense identification zone (KADIZ) without prior notice, according to the South Korean Joint Chiefs of Staff. The aircraft, which included two Chinese H-6 bombers, entered the KADIZ in sequence over a period of four hours but did not violate South Korean airspace. In response, South Korea conducted tactical air maneuvers and lodged a protest with China and Russia over the unannounced entry. The Chinese and Russian defense ministries stated that they completed joint air patrols over the Sea of Japan as part of strategic initiatives to deepen military cooperation between the two nations.
