Ukrainian Drone Strike Triggers Massive Explosions at Toropets Ammo Depot in Tver Region
Sep 18, 2024, 08:14 AM
A significant Ukrainian drone attack targeted a major ammunition depot in Toropets, Tver region, Russia, triggering massive explosions and fires. The depot, known as the 107th GRAU Arsenal, stored up to 30,000 tons of various munitions, including Iskander and Tochka-U missiles, S-300 and S-400 air defense systems, and North Korean KN23 ballistic missiles. The explosions were so powerful that they registered as earthquakes, with magnitudes up to 2.8, according to NORSAR. The attack involved six UAVs and led to the partial evacuation of local residents. The fire now covers approximately 5 square kilometers. Russian authorities claimed that air defense systems shot down some drones, causing the fire from falling debris, but Ukrainian sources reported that the drones successfully hit their targets, including military unit 54169. This strike is considered one of the most significant Ukrainian attacks on Russian territory since the beginning of the war.
