OpenAI Appoints BlackRock's Adebayo Ogunlesi, CEO of Global Infrastructure Partners, to Board
Jan 14, 2025, 05:12 PM
OpenAI has appointed Adebayo Ogunlesi, a senior managing director at BlackRock and CEO of Global Infrastructure Partners, to its board of directors. Ogunlesi's appointment is aimed at strengthening OpenAI's path to artificial general intelligence (AGI) through his leadership in infrastructure and global strategy. Previously, Ogunlesi served as executive vice chairman of Credit Suisse's investment banking division and has been involved with several high-profile boards, including BlackRock, Topgolf Callaway Brands, Kosmos Energy Holdings, and Terminal Investment Limited. His addition to the board comes as OpenAI continues its transition towards a for-profit structure, following a significant board overhaul in late 2023. Last year, BlackRock acquired Global Infrastructure Partners for approximately $12 billion.
