Michael Vick Takes First Coaching Job at Norfolk State University Despite No Prior Head Coaching Experience
Dec 17, 2024, 02:00 PM
Former NFL quarterback Michael Vick has been hired as the new head football coach at Norfolk State University, marking his first venture into coaching. The 44-year-old, who had a storied career at Virginia Tech and in the NFL, agreed to contract terms with the university, as reported by David Teel of The Virginian-Pilot. Despite having no prior head coaching experience, Vick brings some coaching background, having served as a coaching intern for the Kansas City Chiefs and as a consultant for the Atlanta Legends of the Alliance of American Football. His hiring comes after the university fired head coach Dawson Odums following a 4-8 season in 2024. An introductory news conference for Vick is expected within a week.
