LeBron James Sets Record with 563 Career 30-Point Games in Lakers' 119–102 Victory
Jan 4, 2025, 04:16 PM
LeBron James achieved a significant milestone by surpassing Michael Jordan for the most 30-point games in NBA regular-season history. During the Los Angeles Lakers' 119–102 victory over the Atlanta Hawks, James scored 30 points, marking his 563rd career 30-point game, breaking Jordan's record of 562. This accomplishment came in James' 1,523rd game over 22 seasons, compared to Jordan's 1,072 games across 15 seasons. LeBron, who turned 40 recently, reflected on the achievement, expressing admiration for Jordan, whom he idolized growing up. He stated, "I wear 23 because of him," and called the milestone "super cool." James has also surpassed 40,000 career points and is averaging 24.1 points per game this season while shooting 50.7% from the field and 38.2% from three-point range. The Lakers have started 2025 strong, with James contributing elite performances, including a 38-point game earlier in the week. Teammate Anthony Davis humorously noted that it took James seven more seasons to surpass Jordan's record. The Lakers are currently the fourth seed in the Western Conference.
