On December 24, Iran's Supreme Council of Cyberspace unanimously voted to lift the ban on WhatsApp and Google Play. The decision was made during a meeting attended by President Masoud Pezeshkian and members of the council, including the heads of the three branches of government. A proposed 50 billion tomans in advertising support for domestic messaging platforms was also discussed. State news agency IRNA confirmed the vote, highlighting a shift towards more open access to global digital platforms while continuing to support domestic applications.
