India Adds 9 Tonnes of Gold in June, Total Reserves Now at 841 Tonnes
Jul 7, 2024, 02:24 PM
The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) added over 9 tonnes of gold to its reserves in June, marking the highest monthly purchase since July 2022. This brings India's year-to-date net gold buying to over 37 tonnes, lifting total gold holdings to 841 tonnes. According to a World Gold Council analyst, this increase is the largest in nearly two years. India is now within 5 tonnes of Japan's 846 tonnes of official gold reserves and is likely to surpass Japan in July, moving into the fifth position among the world's largest official gold reserves holders.
