Seven Tourists, Including Four Australians, Hospitalized After Drinking Pina Coladas at Fiji's Five-Star Warwick Resort
Dec 16, 2024, 08:45 AM
Seven tourists, including four Australian women and an American, have been hospitalized in Fiji after suffering suspected alcohol poisoning at the five-star Warwick Fiji resort on Viti Levu island's Coral Coast. The tourists, aged between 18 and 56, became ill on Saturday night after consuming pina coladas prepared at the resort's bar. Symptoms included nausea, vomiting, and neurological issues. Among the affected are Australian mother Tanya Sandoe and her 19-year-old daughter Georgia Sandoe-Simpson, who have since been released from the hospital and returned to Sydney. Fijian health authorities are conducting investigations into the incident, with some patients reported to be in stable condition and others being discharged. The resort has denied allegations of replacing drink ingredients.
