A Nevada commissioner has ruled against Rupert Murdoch's attempt to alter his family's trust to consolidate control of his media empire, which includes Fox Corp. and News Corp., under his eldest son, Lachlan Murdoch, and to lock in Fox News's right-wing editorial slant, according to a sealed court document obtained by The New York Times. The decision characterized Murdoch's plan as a "carefully crafted charade" to "permanently cement Lachlan Murdoch’s executive roles" within the empire and found that Murdoch acted in bad faith. Despite the setback, Murdoch's legal team plans to appeal the ruling. This ruling represents a significant obstacle for the 92-year-old media mogul's succession plans.
