The United States has officially dedicated El Capitan, the world's most powerful supercomputer, which is designed to handle classified tasks related to national security. Built by Hewlett Packard Enterprise (HPE) and AMD, the supercomputer was developed under a $600 million contract with the U.S. Department of Energy. El Capitan is capable of performing at 1.742 exaFLOPs, making it the fastest computing system ever benchmarked. The dedication ceremony was attended by HPE CEO Antonio Neri and AMD CEO Lisa Su, who highlighted the project's significance in advancing high-performance computing capabilities for national security.
