Four-Alarm Fire in Oakland Hills Prompts Evacuations, Impacts Seven Homes
Oct 18, 2024, 09:49 PM
A fast-moving brush fire broke out in the Oakland Hills near the intersection of Mountain Boulevard and Keller Avenue on Friday afternoon. The fire, which quickly escalated to a four-alarm blaze, has prompted mandatory evacuations for residents on Campus Drive and Crystal Ridge Court. At least seven homes have been impacted, with four structures confirmed to be involved in the fire. High winds and critical fire conditions, including a Red Flag Warning, have exacerbated the situation, leading to the involvement of multiple fire agencies, including CAL FIRE, which has deployed aircraft to drop fire retardant and water. Interstate 580 and its exit have been shut down as crews continue to battle the flames. Approximately 80 firefighters are on the scene, working to contain the fire and prevent further damage.
