Clemson Upsets No. 4 Kentucky 70-66; Schieffelin Grabs 20 Rebounds in Fourth Straight Top-5 Win
Dec 4, 2024, 05:01 AM
Clemson upset No. 4 Kentucky 70-66 in men's college basketball on Tuesday night during the ACC/SEC Challenge at Littlejohn Coliseum, handing the Wildcats their first loss of the season and improving to 8-1. Despite poor shooting performances from key players, including Ian Schieffelin who shot 4-of-20 but grabbed 20 rebounds, the Tigers prevailed. Clemson overcame a 9-0 Kentucky run in the first half with a 14-2 run of their own, leading 37-30 at halftime. Kentucky struggled from three-point range, shooting 7-of-27. The victory was Clemson's fourth consecutive win against an AP Top-5 team while unranked and prevented the ACC from being shut out on the first night of the ACC/SEC Challenge, where the SEC won nine of ten games. After the game, Kentucky coach Mark Pope acknowledged Clemson's physical play and relentlessness. The game concluded with Clemson students storming the court in celebration.
