Hong Kong Probe Reveals Cathay Airbus A350 Engine Failure Due to Ruptured Fuel Hose
Sep 19, 2024, 07:54 AM
A Hong Kong aviation probe has revealed that an engine defect in Cathay Pacific's Airbus A350 could cause extensive damage. The investigation, conducted by Hong Kong's Air Accident Investigation Authority, found that the in-flight engine failure was due to a ruptured fuel hose. The defect, which led to the cancellation of dozens of Cathay Pacific flights in early September, also showed signs of a fire. The preliminary report indicated that the midair engine fire could have spread, potentially causing widespread damage to the aircraft and major fires.
