Baseball Hall of Famer Bob Costas Retires from MLB Play-by-Play, Continues at MLB Network
Oct 31, 2024, 07:59 PM
Bob Costas, the legendary broadcaster, Baseball Hall of Fame inductee, and Syracuse University alumnus, has announced his retirement from MLB play-by-play broadcasting after more than four decades in the booth. Costas, 72, confirmed his retirement to The Athletic's Andrew Marchand. Despite stepping away from play-by-play duties, he will continue his emeritus work at MLB Network, where he will appear as an analyst and contribute to special projects. Costas most recently called the Yankees-Royals American League Division Series matchup on TBS. His retirement marks the end of a storied career that began 44 years ago, during which he became one of the most iconic voices in baseball broadcasting.
