Philadelphia 76ers Sign Andre Drummond to Two-Year, $10+ Million Deal with Player Option
Jun 30, 2024, 11:07 PM
The Philadelphia 76ers have agreed to a two-year, $10+ million deal with free agent center Andre Drummond. Drummond, a two-time All-Star and four-time rebounding champion, will have a player option in the second year of the contract. This marks Drummond's return to the 76ers, where he previously played 49 games during the 2021-22 season, averaging 6.1 points and 8.8 rebounds per game. The signing is notable as it is the first outside signing of the 2024 NBA free agency period. The 76ers are expected to use their cap space before officially signing Drummond, possibly utilizing the room exception. Drummond is considered the best backup center Joel Embiid has played with. The Bulls had the opportunity to trade Drummond to the 76ers at the trade deadline for three second-round picks but chose not to, which has been criticized as mismanagement.
