Tesla Offers Free Lifetime Supercharging for $100,000 Foundation Cybertrucks After Selling 30,000 Units
Jan 1, 2025, 04:04 PM
Tesla Inc. has introduced a new incentive to clear out its inventory of Foundation-series Cybertrucks by offering free lifetime supercharging for these vehicles. This move comes after Tesla struggled to sell the high-priced limited edition trucks, which were initially priced at around $100,000, significantly higher than the originally announced $40,000 base price for the Cybertruck. The Foundation series, which began delivery at the end of November 2023, had a $20,000 markup and extended for nearly a year, resulting in Tesla selling over 30,000 units. However, demand appears to have waned, leading Tesla to employ strategies such as removing Foundation series badges and selling them in Canada as non-Foundation trucks. The latest incentive of free lifetime supercharging, previously used to boost sales of Model S vehicles, is now being applied to the remaining Cybertrucks in inventory. Currently, there are seven such vehicles available in Southern California, as listed on Tesla's inventory website. Additionally, Tesla recently shut down its Cybertruck production line for three days, with no public explanation provided.
