AIMPLB to Challenge Supreme Court Ruling on Alimony for Divorced Muslim Women

The All India Muslim Personal Law Board (AIMPLB) is set to challenge the Supreme Court's recent ruling that allows divorced Muslim women to claim alimony. The board argues that the decision conflicts with Sharia law, stating that if a man has to provide maintenance even after divorce, it undermines the purpose of divorce. AIMPLB spokesperson Syed Qasim Rasool Ilyas emphasized that the judgement interferes with Sharia law and that the board is exploring all possible legal options, including seeking a review of the judgement. The board has also urged Waqf Boards to provide support to divorced women.
