FBI Reveals Details on Trump Assassination Attempt by Thomas Crooks; Motive Still Unknown
Aug 28, 2024, 07:29 PM
The FBI has released new details about the assassination attempt on former President Donald Trump, which occurred during a rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, on July 13. The suspect, Thomas Matthew Crooks, conducted over 60 online searches related to both Trump and President Joe Biden, as well as events like the Republican National Convention and the Democratic National Convention, in the months leading up to the attack. Crooks had also been searching for information on explosives since 2019. Despite these findings, the FBI has not identified a definitive motive for the attempt. Crooks reportedly viewed the rally as a 'target of opportunity' and became 'hyper-focused' on it, having a mix of ideologies, not clearly aligning with any political side. The FBI also released photos of the gun, an AR-15 rifle, and explosives found in Crooks' car. The investigation continues, with no evidence of co-conspirators or foreign involvement.
