Buffer Zones Within 150 Meters of Abortion Clinics in England and Wales Now in Force, Unlimited Fines Possible

Buffer zones around abortion clinics in England and Wales have come into force, making it a criminal offence to intentionally or recklessly influence a person's decision to access or provide abortion services within 150 meters of a clinic. These zones aim to prevent anti-abortion campaigners from handing out leaflets, holding vigils, and showing graphic images near the sites. The new laws, effective from Thursday, also include penalties for obstructing access to these services, with offenders facing an unlimited fine. Silent prayer, however, will not be automatically banned within these protected zones. The buffer zones also apply to hospitals providing abortion services.
