Biden Announces $2.5B Military Aid, $3.4B Budget Aid to Ukraine Ahead of Trump Presidency
Dec 30, 2024, 02:42 PM
President Joe Biden has announced nearly $2.5 billion in additional military aid to Ukraine, marking one of the largest security assistance packages to date. The package includes a $1.25 billion drawdown for the Ukrainian military and a $1.22 billion allocation under the Ukraine Security Assistance Initiative (USAI). The aid will provide Ukraine with artillery shells, missiles, armored vehicles, air defense systems, and includes the delivery of hundreds of thousands of artillery rounds, thousands of rockets, and hundreds of armored vehicles. Additionally, Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen announced $3.4 billion in budgetary aid to Ukraine, bringing the total U.S. assistance to $5.9 billion. These announcements come as the Biden administration works to deliver support before President-elect Donald Trump takes office.
