Trump Announces on Truth Social Nomination of Florida Sheriff Chad Chronister as DEA Chief
Dec 1, 2024, 02:00 AM
President-elect Donald Trump announced on Saturday via Truth Social his intention to nominate Hillsborough County Sheriff Chad Chronister as the next Administrator of the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA). Chronister, who has served with the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office for over 32 years and became Sheriff in 2017, has been recognized with numerous commendations and awards for his dedication to public safety. Hillsborough County encompasses much of the Tampa Bay area in Florida. Trump's decision underscores Chronister's extensive experience in law enforcement. Notably, Chronister endorsed a local marijuana decriminalization policy enacted by county officials. If confirmed, he is expected to collaborate with Attorney General Pam Bondi to combat drug trafficking, including fentanyl, secure the southern border, and prevent the transit of illicit drugs into the United States. Chronister expressed gratitude for the nomination in a statement issued on Saturday.
